Launched the new dink last night. Still needs a section of rub rail that's on backorder the oars didn't arrive. The sailng rig isn't finished. The paint was barely dry. It was time though. My real jib consumed massive hours that I had not anticipated and so the dink got the leftover moments to be worked on. All in all I'm happy with the outcome. The sculling notch could have been a tad deeper. With out weight in the bow the 8hp 2 stroke won't put it on a plane. The idea was to get away from needing an outboard but without the oars and a crappy old sculling oar we ran it out to the mooring with the yamaha. Did great with 2 kids and a load of provisions. With just me the bow goes skyward until I lean way forward. For a hard dink she is very stable in the water though. It's a 2 piece dink the back half is named uncle and the fwd aunt. For my aunts and uncles that inspired me to build boats and be on the water when I was a kid. Still inspired

One of these days I will build the Danny Greene Chameleon, the plans for which, I bought from him years ago. Fits my foredeck when stacked.

Wasn't getting on your case about not giving Danny credit. Referring more to the stackable feature. In fact, my memory was of a 5 sided prow.Old age, I guess.

It stacks perfectly. 3 bolts to undo and the bow sits in the aft section. Danny designed a bunch if versions but I understand the chameleon was the result of the other designs.

It's a Danny Greene design I sent $25 to him in Bermuda he mailed the plans. I don't have the address here. Cost was about $650 but I had access to some materials and tools. The bulk of the cost was the epoxy. I have 2 gallons left from a 5 gallon kit. So I guess I should deduct another 100 bucks as I didn't use everything I bought. I had some Taylor canvas rub rail so didnt buy the section for the bow.

That's cool. Twenty five years ago, I needed a dinghy and built an 8' pram from fiberglass and plywood using the stitch and glue method, with not experience, from a set of plans I got from Small Boat Magazine.

It was set up for rowing, too, but didn't like a motor much, either. I wish I still had it.
