Help! Why is finding moorage so hard?

We're sure someone out there will tongue-lash us with "you should have procured moorage alongside the boat..." But buying parking before we have something to park seemed backwards to us...but, lesson learned.

In the interim, we're desperately trying to find moorage in the greater Puget Sound area. Currently our baby is on the hard in Anacortes, Wash. and our first two dozen calls or visits have netted us ZERO availability -- quickest one is in six months. Had one flippant marina staff tell us to "just anchor out..." We'd do that but we have a few small projects to get her completely ready for or Autumn and life in Canada for Fall/Winter (We know, not ideal to most folks, but it'll work for us for the time being).

We've learned in the last week that many people in this area own their slips or rent. We need a slip asap until about September when we'll be heading North to be closer to where our son is going to college and my spouse's work will take him (some things do work out!) -- and yes we're contacting that marina asap.

So, if anyone knows of anyone needing to sublet their slip while they are out cruising during the spring and summer, send them our way.

Thanks,
Yours in Noobness,
Greg & Casz

Did you try Semiahmoo, Blaine and Port of Bellingham?

Thanks for the tip! They do have moorage in Semiahmoo and Blaine...now we're trying to figure out how to get our boat from Anacortes to one of those or if we should be looking south.

Since south of Anacortes is closer to Seattle, moorage gets tighter till you start getting way south. You could try Poulsbo/Liberty Bay or Bremerton across the sound.
