I should think the boating community, where a number of older & often relatively wealthy people are sitting in a spot, would be reasonably fertile soil for this stuff!

In fact, a random Frenchie came snorkelling over to a friend's boat in the Canaries the other day offering this precise service..
Exactly!! Money is king in all 3rd world countries... if there is any problem with any official, 20 bucks and a beer can normally fix it! and thats a big "IF"

Not going to happen

Here on the gulf coast of Florida, it's between $1 and $2 a foot. And that's from people who will be around for the whole year, usually.

People have been trying to figure out a way to cruise and "make money" for a long time. Do some succeed? A few. And some people win the lottery, too, but it's a bad way to plan your living budget.

Cruisers are:
1) Frugal - they do most of their own work;

2) helpful - Most of the time, I have had free help from fellow cruisers when doing engine work, sails, fixing things, etc. And have given free help where I can, like computers, etc.

If you are going to try and charge other cruisers, you will end up losing far more than you gain.

There are numerous ways to make money under the radar. But people should be aware of the dangers of being caught. Newbies don't have a clue, that's why they ask questions.
If we make public the ways to gain employment under the radar. Then it's nolonger under the radar, and everyone and his dog will take our oppertunities away from us. Either by law or by competition for the jobs available.
It's reather stupid to talk on a publc forum, of ways to do something illegal. IMHO

I have lived in Asia pretty continuously since 1984. Some would describe certain countries as third world - I don't like the term. Asia still has the highest growth potential of anywhere.

I do know people who have worked under the table and been successful. I do know that labor laws are changing and getting stricter. I do know that the "struggle" for law and order is a never ending battle when officials make so little. Can you bribe them - yes. Are you at their mercy - yes. Could you get in trouble - yes...

In regards to teaching English. I lived in Japan for 5 1/2 years. There were tons of undocumented people teaching English - the pay is good but "native" - read neutral to American - spoken English is preferred. Not sure if Japan is a place I want to long term cruise however.
