One other important item to keep in mind before incurring any expense is the boat documentation and legal status in the country it is in.
If the boat is registered/documented in a country other than where it is currently, you will need proof of ownership before anything, then get to know how legal is the boat in the country and what would be required to sailed it away. Even if it s documented in the country, if it is a remote one, you will need to know if taxes were paid, how to "undocument" it and how to register in another country or your country of residency.

EXCELLENT Point not to be taken lightly even in what might be considered "civilized" countries.
Another not so minor detail = Contractual Language.
USA usually defaults in favor of the Buyer (consumer) BUT many other countries do not......they are either neutral or unfavorable.
For example - Contingencies (mentioned) are often the default in USA but missing (You MUST insert / add) in other countries.

In the midst of the of chasing a boat i.e.;making sure of all the condition issues, these details = Ownership, Contract, Money (exchange, protection, refund?, expenses) can get lost in the shuffle.

Again, thanks for the advice from everyone. For those who may travel this road in the future, I wanted to leave my $0.02 on what worked for me.

- Multiple desirable vessels in the target hunting grounds
- Worked with multiple brokers in the target area
- Talked directly with owners of boats to get the back story and present my own.
