Boat names

The NERC in UK, recently decided to use the internet to allow the Great British Public to vote for the name of it's fabulous new £200m polar research vessel. Thinking the public would support names celebrating British maritime heritage and exploration, they were somewhat dismayed when the winner, by a clear margin, was 'Boaty Mc Boatface'.
As I am currently considering a name for my new venture, wondered what funny/inappropriate names folks had encountered out there.

Re: Boat names

Reading Iain Banks's Hydrogen Sonata atm, there is plenty of funny (space)ship's name in it: Beats Working, You Call This Clean, Just the Washing Instruction Chip in Life's Rich Tapestry or the Mistake not...

And so on...

Fish & Chicks.

Happy Hooker...on a number of sailing charter boats.

Re: Boat names

How about "Do Not Tumble Dry", or "Cool Wash Only" (yeah I'm doing laundry at the moment).

Re: Boat names

New venture, eh? "Ad Hoc"

If the new venture is a boat of some sort, keep it short and fast to give phonetically over the radio. [Knew a guy who named his boat "Bob".] The name should mean something to you, ours came from a Hagar the Horrible cartoon.

Not knowing you at all, how can we possibly come up with a name that would be a good fit?
"Rosy", if you're an optimist, maybe.

Cheers,

Ann

Re: Boat names

I'm hopefully closing the deal on what will become "Shameless Hussy 2" and the dink I'm gonna call "Dick Stankavage" but that's just me...

Shameless hussy 1 was such a great little girl...miss her every day! The dink was named "short bus" as it was a little avon rover...
