Any land surveyors out there?

The states make it hard to be a traveling surveyor here as most states have their own licensing requirements that would make it prohibitively difficult. Is the rest of the world like that? Are land surveyors in demand? Wonder if throwing some surveying equipment on board would present me with some opportunities down the road? Any one else do this? I could teach wifey to hold a rod, but I doubt she'd go in a swamp to find a bench mark!

Unfortunately land surveyors have to be registered in their respective jurisdictions. The rods might come in handy for soundings when you get in shallow water. I've used the chains in the past to measure mast heights.

JB: Tho' you may not be able to practice surveying, you should certainly qualify as an EXCELLENT rod man.
