...Carlyle Lake in Southern Illinois is what we have!
It is very close to the end of the sailing season for Carlyle and we got an invite from some friends to head
out on Sunday for a few hours of R&R as well as some basics on sailing.
While we didn't have a whole lot of time on the water
, it sure did remind me of how much I love to sail and any time in a boat is better than no time!
Carlyle, a man-made lake, is just shy of 15 miles long and about 3.5 miles wide with a mean depth
around 11 feet. It is home to a few marinas
and you can see boats of all sizes out there. Our friends own a 25 foot Catalina
and she was perfect for the day and the six of us!
Not too many pictures on the outing but this is one of my favorites. While not heeled over too far we in this shot, did get a couple of good winds to get us over far enough to get a feel of how it feels and how the boat handles! I loved it!

Our 'hood ornaments'!
Couldn't have asked for a better day!
