Sailboat transport from Rockland Maine to Great Lakes

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the place to post, if not please advise.

Thanks

I am looking to transport a sailboat;
36 ‘ Steel Bruce Roberts cutter rig
Beam 11.2,
Full keel Draft 5’9”,
Height 11’
18000 lbs

Mid April to Lake Erie or Lake Huron from Rockland ME, Knight Marina.

I plan to launch and sail to Lake Superior around April 20th.

I am looking to save $ with a backhaul for this transport if any boats are heading to Maine in April.

Thanks

Doug

Re: Sailboat transport from Rockland Maine to Great Lakes

We just moved our Meridian 368 from Pa to Cheboygan Mi in Aug 2014....We were extremely happy with the care our transporter took in the moving of our boat. There was no damage what so ever. His prices were the best we could find. The transporters name is Jim Mitchell and is email address is meiyacht@yahoo.com and his phone number is 262-206-9125. Our boat is 14 feet high, 3.5 draft and 37'9" long kind of similar to yours but it is a powerboat. We more than highly recommend him!!!

Hi, Ohara Corp. does transport. 207-594-4444. They own the Journey's end marina right there in Rockland, can take care of you.

Not sure on the backhaul.

Good luck, TJ

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Doug.
You may find end of April to be VERY cold on Superior.

This year, you might still find ice in the slips on Superior at the end of April...

Hope you have heat on that boat....it's going to be a cold sail! I originate up in the north channel area of lake Huron, and many an April we have still been fishing on the ice on the inland lakes mid-April. Bring your long red woollies...and lots of them.
