Reciprocal Opportunities

hi
i will be cruising the upper great lakes in 2012 from my home port of point breeze ny lake ontario. i am a member of the point breeze yacht club and we have plentiful recipricol opportunities thru out lake ontario . i am wondering what the possibilities of a recipricol being honored thruout the other lakes in particular erie, huron and michigan as well as the north channel and georgian bay ?
any feedback would be appreciated.
thanks
greg

Re: recipricol opportunities

Our yacht club was a member of Yachting Club of America, which keeps a register of clubs offering reciprocal privileges. You might want to check with your club's administrator to see if he/she has the book.

Point Breeze YC is not listed with YCA.

no kidding
lets see at 500.00 dollars annually x800 members thats close to a half a million dollars a year !
that should not only bring a possible reciprocal it should also bring someone to scrape off the barnacles from time to time ..

Re: Reciprocal Opportunities

Our club is a member of YCA. For some clubs near us the tradition is for the Commodores to exchange letters annually extending the facilities to the club members of the visiting club. It's done annually and outlines the details of what you get and if there are any fees are required. That process is required at several of the better clubs located where you really want to be. If you are willing to do all the preliminary contacts I think you'll find this works about any place. We buy the YCA membership for the benefit of our members that travel.

For the most part if we know you are a member of a club and we know you are coming and we have a spot you can get a free night and for $5 you can have electric too.
