It has been three years since I last did this, but when I kept my Catalina 27, Kelly III, in Erie, we would regularly tie up near Dobbins landing next to the Smuggler's Inn, a restaurant on the east side of Dobbins. You may be able to do the same to go shopping, but then you'll likely need a car.

I just checked for my own purposes with Presque Isle Marina in the State Park of the same name. They told me I could leave my dinghy for a couple days while at anchor. Of course, they suggested I lock the dinghy, but they have no problem leaving it there fo some time.
