Overnighting in Presqu’ile Bay (Brighton), Ontario

We are planning to cruise the Bay of Quinte West to East, starting with a crossing from Rochester to Presqu’ile Bay. The online information doesn’t seem very up to date and talks about marinas up for sale, too shallow or not open to transients. Has anybody overnighted in that Bay recently? We’re a 41 ft sailing vessel with 5’6” draft and 14’ beam looking for a good docking solution. The canal wall seems like an option, but a marina would be nicer. Thanks.

We tied up against the canal wall numerous times, but over twelve years ago now. The only issue was the mosquitoes could be brutal there from twilight onward in the evening.

As you come into the bay from the south you will see a yellow building immediately north of the turn to the east in the channel. Either dock that faces you will work just don't try to come in directly in front of the gas pumps in the middle of the docks. Lots of depth and hydro though I think they have closed the restaurant which was called Harbourview Café. The bay is home to lots of swans (the birds) so keep an eye out to see them.

Thank you. The phone number for Harbourview Café is no longer in service so you must be right about it being closed. Do you happen to know who manages the marina now and how to contact them to reserve a dock space?

We just anchored there 2 nights ago. Tucked up the south side of the bay. Lots of weed, but second try dug deep. Yesterday morning we went through the Murray canal and are now docked in Trent Port marina.
It a great marina thats so new it doesn't show on my charts or cruising guide. If you aren't looking to go far each day I would recommend it, but it's only 2-3 hours from where you are now.

Last week we anchored in the lea Indian Island for our start of the Trent-Severn. Good holding in 8ft of water.

I have used the outside, viisitor dock at the marina in past years. It is exposed to winds coming down the bay and can be bouncy. The basin is small and in the past was always full with long term boats.
