Every year on the third Sunday in July, people all around Lake Superior celebrate Lake Superior Day, which is a day set aside for residents and visitors to appreciate their connection to the world’s largest freshwater lake. Families, groups, communities, businesses, and Tribal/First Nations members hold special events or activities to educate people about the need to protect and restore the watershed’s natural environment.

The event is celebrated in communities around Lake Superior including:
Terrace Bay and Thunder Bay, Ontario,
Superior and Ashland, Wisc.,
Grand Marais, Ironwood and Marquette, Mich.,
Grand Marais, Two Harbors and Duluth, Minnesota.
