I’ll be helping deliver a former Lake Pepin boat from Duluth to Thunder Bay this spring.

Hello
We're from Chicago, and think we'll probably be in Waukegan this year because it is close to Larson's and we have things for them to do on the boat since it is the first year of ownership of this one. Our first trip will be to bring the boat here from the Chesapeake via the Erie Canal, and Lakes Erie, Huron, and Michigan.

We'd enjoy a rendzvous along the way!

My favorite time is July thru August. The weather in early June can be a little iffy so it would not be my first choice. If you have to go in June the later the better. I have not found the bugs to be a big problem but this may be due to my going later in the summer. They are nothing like the bugs in the North Channel of Lake Huron if you have ever experienced that. I have mentioned this on other threads but consider launching in Thunder Bay and sailing to the Slate Islands and then a short hop to Rossport where you can catch the Greyhound bus back to Thunder Bay to get the truck and trailer. You would be back in Rossport and have the boat loaded by 6pm. You can cover more of the North Shore this way and not have to backtrack against the prevaling wind. This is a great trip if you have 2 weeks or more but if only a week maybe stick closer to Thunder Bay. Plenty to see and do either way. Keep in touch, we have to decide between the North Channel of Huron or the Superior North Shore this summer.

We have been sailing out of Muskegon for the past couple years with a Hunter 22'.
Don't know for sure if we be back there or try somewhere else this year.

I live in Kalamazoo, MI. Grew up in Macatawa, near Holland MI. We have a cabin on Hamlin Lake with a Hunter 17. I powerboat from Ludington to Leland in the summer. Absolutely love the Great Lakes, especially Grand Traverse Bay and Lake Charlevoix.
I can't take to cold another day - luckly leaving for Nassau with my family in two days.

A great place to cruise is the Manitou's. We like the North shore of the North Manitou. There are very few boaters there. Also Hog and Squaw Island in the Beaver group.
