GL: Hauled yet?

It's over. Sails off, boat decommissioned. Ready to be hauled. We still have the Sunfish if there's a stellar day, but it's time to hang it up for six months.

Depressing.

Re: GL: Hauled yet?

We usually haul the weekend after Thanksgiving, so we've been out of the water for two weeks now. The cover is on, the fuel stabilized, the water systems anti-froze, and the motor's water jacket drained. The depression is almost over. Good luck on haulout -- the weather looks unpleasant for the next few days.

Re: GL: Hauled yet?

Hauled October 1. Our winter marina is sort of last-out = first-in, which took me a bit by surprise this spring, so this way Iíll have an extra week or so in May to get everything done.

Was out Oct 19th. Counting down the days to April 15th. Very depressing especially since the damn sun hasn't shone for weeks now.

Hey...I was out sailing and snorkeling just last week.
On a Princess cruise in the Caribbean.
My own boat, in Toronto, hauled September 15.
Why sail if the gals can't wear bikinis eh?

Hauled? The cruising season has just begun! Just left our hurricane season slip and starting to cruise again. Location, location, location!

Re: GL: Hauled yet?

Been out a couple weeks, though the Marina officially "closed" for the season the 2nd weekend in October. They hauled out about two weeks later, without requiring me to drive back up for it. I do have to go up to get things covered and locked down, and pull the outboard off for winter. But I also tend to be one of the first in too, so I don't mind either way. Will be nice to get splashed and straight to the slip instead of having to beat into wind and waves for hours on end like this year was

Re: GL: Hauled yet?

Not only do I haul very early, but I also launch very late. Usually the last week of June. I know that makes for a short sailing season, but I am too busy in June to go sailing anyway.
However....Once launched, I live aboard all summer until haulout, so I do get good use of the boat. And only during good weather.
In winter, I sail on cruise ships for 8 or 10 weeks.

Re: GL: Hauled yet?

my marina charges $ per foot (don't remember the exact amount) for storing on the hard until APRIL 1ST..... If you don't launch before April 1st, they charge $158/per month....
APRIL 1ST!!!! It's so early!
Sounds like a moneygrabbed scam.
Your thoughts?

The marina is a business, like any other business.
Their job is to make money for the owners and employees.
If they did not make money, they would not exist.
Then where would you store your boat?

And imagine having to deal with a bunch of whiny boaters
Who think they should get everything for free
Like the wind, the waters and the fish from the sea.

Hey folks....
Just my Sunday Soundoff.
Happy sailing to all

Re: GL: Hauled yet?

I hauled on Thursday to do some work at the lower Winter Rates. A bit depressing, but I must say the boatyard is an interesting place.

Boats being hauled, Boats going in,.There was a boat there at the haul out dock from Ontario Canada

They had decided to have their mast pulled and shipped to Florida so they could take the ICW down. The "girls" didn't want to round Cape Hatteras and come into Beaufort /Morehead City

The girls were going to rent a car and meet the guys but they all decided it was better to stay together
