Re: Draft for the Great Lakes

After reading more than one time all the good comments, taking into account the analysis on the sailing time, on the great Lakes, done by Lake Superior, survey of several bays and marinas mainly in Huron and Erie and finally discussion with data on performance of the two configurations with the builder. We decided to go with the shallow draft!

Again thanks all for your helps!

Good choice, imo.

We were working on our boat this week, under wraps in the boatyard, and I was reminded of the hazard and expense of hauling and cradling/blocking a deep draft boat. Ours is under 4 ft. - our friend has 7 ft. draft and his ladder is very, very long and precarious. Taking out his batteries was an exercise in stupidity on the hard...luckily none of us were hurt, but it's not smart for old geezers to do this!

A few people in the yard have built actual wooden stairs to their boats. We call them staircases to heaven...if there is a lot of work to be done, it probably makes sense.
