deck hands available at locks for solo cruiser?

anyone know if I can pick up an able body to assist me at each lock if I'm cruising solo through the locks (downstream St Lawrence River through Montreal )?

Re: deck hands available at locks for solo cruiser?

I've only been through the two by Montreal - St Cathrines and St Lambert - and there were no staff available. However the chances of going through any of those locks without other boats - sometimes LOTS of other boats - is pretty remote. Everyone rafts up in a staging area waiting to go through, and I wouldn't be surprised if you could enlist someone from another boat to help you out. The biggest issue would be transferring the helper back to their boat when you leave since all the departing boat wake can be pretty disruptive.
