Any Way from Chicago to Illinois River?

heard that the fish electrocution project has closed the sanitary canal in chicago effectivly cutting off access to the route to the miss. river from lake mich. is there any other way to get to the ill river from lake mich?

I heard that you could be towed across the electrified area. It will cost you a bit of money though. Take a look at the USCG site.
