Yanmar 4JH4-TE 75hp Marine turbo diesel engine with Extras

I have a 2014 Yanmar 4JH4-TE 75hp marine turbo diesel engine with 86 hours in like new condition. It has been broken per Yanmars instructions in the manual for the first 50 hours. This engine has had 2 oil changes during this period and sent off for testing, which will be included in the engine crate. This 4JH4-TE has the bronze exhaust mixing elbow. This engine comes with the C30 instrument panel with the digital display inside tachometer. Yanmar packaged this with a remote coolant overflow reservoir with bracket and includes plate for mounting to bulkhead.

This is the last fully mechanical diesel engine in this size that Yanmar makes. It has now been superceded by the 4JH80 common rail engine. A fully mechanical diesel engine is easier and cheaper to troubleshoot and repair than the newer electronic, computer controlled common rail diesel engines. You won't have engine computer problems keeping you from enjoying the water with this 4JH4-TE! This unit is in like new condition ready to go with not break in required! It's listed at a reduced cost from its new price!

Extras include:
- New spare turbo
- - EGT (exhaust gas temperature) & turbo boost combo gauge
- Past Oil sample analysis sheets
- - Operation, Installation, and Parts hardcopy manuals
- Grey Beard Baron 110v oil pump for engine & gear oil changes(can be sucked from dipstick tube)
I have a video of it going through operation of startup through shutdown. https://youtu.be/JgK8hCDZu6g

Will deliver 600 miles from 70461 for free. Freight shipping can also be arranged after sale to best suit your needs.

Price: $12,000

Location in 70461.

The gear it was originally paired with was not supposed to be. It was too small for the engine and its a v-drive, which most don't need. Thus I'm selling this as a bobtail. I do have gears that could be paired with it. Mostly Borg Warners and a Paragan.

It's a like new engine plus the extras, thus the price. A new 4JH80 is about $15k as a bobtail.

If you are seriously interested i
The engine with a gear send me a PM.

It wasn't the right application for us, which I should have known before I purchased it. My mistake and someone can gain a nice engine for my loss.

do you know how readily this would swap in, for a 1995 4JH2-TE?

Depends what your mount spacing is. Side to side and for and aft (center of stud to center of stud). I would imagine they are the same if not really close. Can you check your engine mounts?

I checked the mounts, I get 19.25", center to center, for the studs coming up from the resilient mounts through the brackets on the engine itself.

Re: Yanmar 4JH4-TE 75hp Marine turbo diesel engine with Extras

I remember that fairly recently there was a thread here where someone posted an explanation of the meaning for the various letters and numbers Yanmar uses to designate these engines. If I could find it again, it would help us see if it's the same block, etc.

Re: Yanmar 4JH4-TE 75hp Marine turbo diesel engine with Extras

the thread I was remembering wasn't here, it was on the recreational diesel facebook group. So . . .

"4jh is their 4 cylinder engine jh is their block design, the 2 is the second generation of the engine the increased the bore size and changed the emissions spec too (we went to 5 before they changed the designation) once there it went to turbo for the T and the E was export model so a 4jh2-te, your welcome". And then "was the "D"?" Answer, "deluxe ! Gave more power and extras on the panel !" Followed by "And there was a more powerful one, HTE I think, I guess that was "High power"?" Answer "believe it or not it was highly turbocharged ! Direct translation". All credit to Simon French.

Could be useful over here, too.
