WANTED: Raymarine AP Pulley

As per the picture, I need a new sprocket or drive pulley for my autopilot. Ideally a used-but-good part from a buggered motor or linear drive 12 or 24v they are the same. (the one in the picture is made out of JBWeld)

A google search for nylon gears will give you companies that have gears that you can match

Re: WANTED: Raymarine AP Pulley

Raymarine rebuild kit for linear or rotary drive unit is Raymarine part number N007. It should have the parts that you need.

Re: WANTED: Raymarine AP Pulley

How much of a hurry are you in? I have a few of those but the boat is 40 miles away and I don't plan to get there for a couple of weeks.

These were always included with the gear rebuild kits but never needed. Back in the days of the plastic gears I have gone through quite a few of the gears but never needed the little sprockets.

Yours for free if you can wait. Send me a pm with your address.

I count 17 teeth? New gear = new belt? Looks a little stretched?

Long time no internet.
I have made one out of JB Weld.
I am still looking for a replacement, if you hear of one please advise.

Re: WANTED: Raymarine AP Pulley

Did you check out the link on my last post?
Depending on the shaft size and teeth count, a standard belt pulley used in 3d printers should do you. Depending on the specs I likely have what you need and I could send you something for little cost. Where are you currently?
Regards, Dennis

Re: WANTED: Raymarine AP Pulley

Thanks Dennis.

I did check that link. There are a few problems with that potential solution.

1. The shaft of the motor is also splined. I could fill them in and then use the shoulder grub screw on the sprockets in the link, but the alignment is then a problem because of lack of clearance to the mounting plate.

2. The sprocket is 17 tooth. Going down or up will not only make me slot the motor mount holes for adjustment, but need to calculate or measure torque (amps) on the motor, however I only see a small % change there because of the double epicyclic reduction later, and then the 36:128 chain reduction.

3. The original is made by Gates for Raymoron and is a GT3 (ie 3mm pitch) but narrower than the stock 1/2" belts. I overcame that width problem, and bought my belts from Florida Bearings, ($9.00 +/-)

The most elegant solution is to try to find an original used part, unfortunately the official spares include the motor

Re: WANTED: Raymarine AP Pulley

I did not notice the internal spline...... sorry.
And the 3D printers are usually running the GT2 belt.

Also, the 3d printer pulleys are usually 5mm and sometimes 8MM

Let me check around a bit.

Re: WANTED: Raymarine AP Pulley

It looks like GT3 is a GT2-3M belt. if the belt is wide (9mm) or less, this might work.
I'm not as concerned about the internal spline (that could be filled with JB or not as you choose. looks like 20 tooth is normal, would it be an issue to slot the motor mount to accommodate or is there a slightly longer belt available? still don't know what shaft size you have.

Re: WANTED: Raymarine AP Pulley

If the bore is 8mm this would end your grub screw concerns.

Just a shout out to STORMALONG.

Brian, who we met sometime in 2006 and before, has kindly offered to give me a spare that he has.

A great community and a good guy!

Thank you Brian!
