Sea Tiger 555 2-Speed Manual Windlass (Long Beach, CA)
This Simpson Lawrence Sea Tiger 555 is in good working condition. It includes the RCB70 (combination chain + rope) gypsy, steel handle and instruction manual. The ID plate says this is # 886012.
Price: $500 + shipping
Location: Long Beach, California
The RB70 gypsy is designed to be used with:
American BBB 3/8"
Hi Test 3/8"
Most European 10 mm
S-L 0058004 / 0058202 9.5 mm
I have been using this with short link 5/16" G30 and 9/16 nylon rode, it worked great with no hangs. Given that short link G30 isn't particularly common, I would consider selling or trading the chain as well (75-feet).
I've decided to sell this windlass to fundraise for my upcoming trip...I can use the workout anyway. If I were taking it offshore I'd consider rebuilding it (mostly for the sake of posterity), but has worked for me as is.

Re: Sea Tiger 555 2-Speed Manual Windlass (Long Beach, CA)
I've decided to also sell the 5/16" chain in order to swap it for 1/4" HT. I will sell the 75' length for $150 by itself, or along with the windlass for $600 total.
Specifications for this ISO SHORT link chain can be found here: http://www.1st-chainsupply.com/techn...chainspecs.pdf

Dang indeed - in the coming months I'll be headed down the west coast of Mexico for a ways (probably not to your latitude) and then across to the Marquesas for the Coconut Milk Run. Though it may require some logistical finagling, if you were seriously interested then we might be able to work something out. If so, feel free to PM me or contact me on FB.

Great windless.
Had 2 of those, re-built one.
Fairly easy to fix and refurbish.

There was a buyer but I haven't heard from him, so to the best of my knowledge both the chain and windlass are still available at the moment.

Can you still get chains for these? I heard they used a proprietary sized chain in them which made replacing it nearly impossible.

Re: Sea Tiger 555 2-Speed Manual Windlass (Long Beach, CA)
Yes you can, the chain is not proprietary (at least not with this gypsy). It uses:
American BBB 3/8"
Hi Test 3/8"
Most European 10 mm
S-L 0058004 / 0058202 9.5 mm
Or other chains which share similar dimensions as the above (such as the G30 5/16" Short Link that I used).
Maybe that last line "S-L 0058004 / 0058202 9.5 mm" is chain made by Simpson Lawrence for their windlasses, but it is certainly not limited to it.
