Scuba tanks, hookah, compressor ...or xchange for air con

If you want to get rid of some weight and make a budget sailor happy, I would be more than happy to use your diving equipment.

On the other hand, if you are looking for an old air con that still works, I would be glad to exchange it for a scuba tank.

Where are you located? And can you tell me more about your AC unit? I have a bunch of AL80 scuba tanks that need new homes. They are in good condition, but will need to be hydro tested before they can legally be filled again.

I am at anchor, in Penarak Bay where the fish farms are on the other side of Kuah
06° 18.085' N
99° 51.942 'E
The aircon is a large square window unit that I bought used last year on Rebak Island. It was still working fine when I left for Thailand.

I will buy your tanks. Hydro is no problem but year of manufacture is because tanks manufactured before certain year (and I'll have to check what it is) cannot be filled.
Contact me by email, send pictures if possible, and give me your asking price. I'm near Raleigh North Carolina. Where are you in Florida?

It's not really a year of manufacture, it was the aluminum alloy, tanks that fail are all made from 6351 alloy as opposed to 6061, and I believe the only manufacturer that used 6351 was Luxfer.
So if you have an aluminum tank made prior to 1988 I think your fine, unless it's a Luxfer tank, then you are not.
Some shops out of ignorance won't fill an older tank, and it has been so long ago that this was known about, no hydro facility will pass a 6351 tank. I am sure you can't buy a 6351 tank in hydro

Not sure of the year of the tanks, I have to unbury them from the back of the garage ;-). But none of them are the bad AL alloy - I had one of those and could no longer get it filled even though it passed an eddy current test of the neck threads. I'll dig out the tanks this weekend and send you some pictures. I'm in Coral Springs. Shipping to NC might not make them your best deal, but if you have alternate means to get them there then we can probably come to a mutually agreeable arrangement...

I need to make a correction to my earlier post, Luxfer may well have been the manufacturer of tanks with different brands, like anything else I suppose. So you can't just go by Luxfer on the tank.
