Raritan Lectra/San Waste Treatment System

FOR SALE is a used Raritan Lectra/San waste treatment system that I removed from a boat I recently purchased. It is a 12 volt system that treats waste water from the boat commode and destroys the bacteria and odors and also reduces the solids through maceration and allows it to be dumped overboard in certain designated water areas (Oceans & Great Lakes). The chemicals used for this process is sea or table salt for fresh water usage or just ocean saltwater only. This unit is a type 1 Coast Guard approved system. Everything you see pictured is included and that is necessary for installation in your boat. Most wiring is provided, but may need a few more small pieces of wire for your particular situation. Parts are readily available, if ever needed through Raritan. Installation and maintenance instructions are included. I'm not sure how old the unit is. These units sell new from $1300 to $2000 from West Marine and other sellers. Asking price is $600.00. Paypal or cash accepted.

Re: Raritan Lectra/San Waste Treatment System

The presence of the rotary timer suggests this unit probably dates to the late 80s/early 90s or earlier (LectraSan EC model). The presence of the “push to flush” button suggests the unit was upgraded to microprocessor control (LectraSan MC model) at some point and I would assume at that time the box with the rotary electro-mechanical timer was taken out of service. Do you know if this is correct?

Did you confirm this unit was working properly when it was taken out? If not, have you inspected the internal electrode pack and can you provide pictures of the internals?

Where are you located?

Hi,
Thank you for the response. I really don't know much about the unit, except to say that the previous owner showed me how it worked when I sea trialed the boat last year. The boat was at the dock and connected to shore power. I can tell you that apparently the electrode pack is working because of the DC current draw. He cycled the unit three or four times before it pumped the waste water overboard. It wasn't connected to a holding tank and he told me that every four cycles it automatically pumps overboard. You are correct on the age of the unit (1990). I removed the unit as soon as I purchased the boat and got it to my home port (Lake Erie). I did notice when I was removing the unit that the rotary control box was disconnected and the wires where just laying in the bilge floor. The other control box was connected. It was used on the Chesapeake Bay waters and now it's in fresh water and we have pump out facilities where I'm located. That was the reason for the removal, plus I didn't want the headache. I'm located in Butler PA. about thirty miles north of Pittsburgh. I can see that you know much more about this unit than I do, but if I can be be of any other help, please let me know. Also, in case you are interested in purchasing it, the total weight of everything is around thirty two pounds.
Thank you,
Don Matteoni
