Pedestal

Rebuilt Orion pedestal. According to Edson, Orion was a competitor and the control head is pretty much a direct copy. The base is 10" in diameter, 38" high to the top of the binnacle, 3.5" OD diameter tube with a straight 1" shaft. It comes with a 27" destroyer wheel, a brand new Edson Idler pulley assembly and two intermediate pulleys. The control head was rebuilt with new bushings and custom lever shafts to accommodate new Edson control handles. A new Edson wheel brake was also custom installed. This pedestal originally was adapted to work with a Yacht Specialties Idler pulley assembly which was also rebuilt and is for sale separately. This pedestal is not for the neophyte mechanic it has been custom altered and will take someone with a good mechanical sense to install. I'd like $1600 for everything. Will consider thoughtful offers.

Re: Pedestal

tell me more about the yacht specialties idler... looks like a cross wire, is it? What size are the pulleys? Do the pulleys have bearings or bronze bushings? What is the bot spacing. Thanks
Jim

Re: Pedestal

Yes, the Yacht Specialties Idler is a cross wire. 4" pulleys with new bronze bushings. Bolt pattern 6.5" square. This Idler was disassembled, cleaned, rebuilt and painted. The Edson Idler is a brand new cross wire, 4" pulleys, bolt spacing 6" square.

Re: Pedestal

Thanks for the pic. That looks like a straight wire unit. Crossed wire have the holes offset and the sheaves on “ramps”.
More like the Edson one. Would you sell the Edson separate?
