With quite a substantial increase in power consumption unfortunately. B3+ is plenty fast enough.

Power consumption comparison

ab -n 100 -c 10 (uncached) 1010 mA (5.1 W)
400% CPU load (stress --cpu 4) 1280 mA (6.4 W)

Raspberry Pi 3 B+
Pi State Power Consumption
Idle 350 mA (1.9 W)
ab -n 100 -c 10 (uncached) 950 mA (5.0 W)
400% CPU load (stress --cpu 4) 980 mA (5.1 W)

If you stick an ammeter on both of them with 'normal' day to day use, the 4 pulls a fair bit more current. Enough to be a factor with a system that's likely running 24/7. The 4 is lots faster, though the 3B+ is plenty fast enough for nav/sigK.

What kind of differences are you seeing? I expect to leave signal K running on my boat when unattended, but I also want to run Plex server & client, for which I find the 3 inadequate. I could keep the 3 for OP and add the 4 for Plex when needed, but that seems like a hassle when the 4 supposedly underclocks itself automatically when appropriate. I'm curious what you see in the real world, as actual data would be better than my guesses.

Sorry, can't find the plots at the moment, I'll redo over the next few days. My Pi3 has a hifiberry amp on top so doubles as music/radio onboard, works great and very low power, maybe 100mA for the hifi amp.
