I am an ex cruiser living who swallowed the hook after I found Ecuador. I have lived here for 7 years, and My Ecuadorian wife and I have just purchased a Mayotte 47 cat in St Petersburg. We will be Flying there the 1st of the year and cruising here back to Ecuador. Anybody interested in Ecuador, send me an email.
By the way, My previous boat was Quartersplash. If any old friends see this, please send an email to garyswenson@hotmail.com Thanks for this site. It has been a big help. |

Congratulations on being a born-again cruiser. A catamaran is a great way to go.
Are you going to be living on board and cruising in Ecuador? Any long distance cruises planned?

plans

Yes we will be living aboard in Bahia De Caraquez where my wifes family lives. Our plans for the 1st year are to maybe do a couple of visits to the Galopagos, and then after our son is 3 or so, we will head up to the Sea of Cortez, which is one of my other favorite places. Then back again. We will see how my wife does and see where from there. Thanks for asking, Gary |

You have a seaworth catamaran for your trips and some great destinations. I am already envious.
I doubt if my wife would have done a circumnavigation if we didn't have a catamaran. Wives seem to like stable sailing platforms, and I am inclined to agree with them. I confess that I feel safer in my cat than when I sailed in my monohulls. I don't know if I was really safer, but I think our cat felt safer in my wife's mind, and that made a big difference in her willingness to sail offshore. Good luck on your sail back home to Ecuador.
