Re: Monitor Wind Vane Wheel Steering
PAC4Seas,
Questions:
Do you have the wheel bracket and associated blocks?
Where are you in MD? I am in PA.
Was this mounted to your current boat? When you bought her?
thanks!

Re: Monitor Wind Vane Wheel Steering
Yes this Wind Vane has the Wheel Bracket and a Double Block to lead the Lines.
The brackets, which are included, worked for a Double Ender but can be used on a transom stern as well.
I bought the unit about 20 years ago and it remains in excellent condition and working order.
I'm located in Rockville Maryland
Thanks
Paul

Re: Monitor Wind Vane Wheel Steering
Paul,
Just a note to let you know I am still interested. I wrote to Scanmar to get some feedback on mounting and maintenance considerations before I move forward.
I would pickup which would save you having to box.
Best,
Rob

Hi Rob
Let me know when you want to move ahead with this.
Good news about the pick up as I was wondering how I was going to box it up. That's worth something to both me and you.

Re: Monitor Wind Vane Wheel Steering
Hello Mark
Glad to hear it. It's really a nice unit that belongs on a boat...not in the barn
Where are you located?

Re: Monitor Wind Vane Wheel Steering
Port Townsend, WA.
Rounding up some finishing touches on my J/35 and will be cruising her down to Baja and then beyond. I'm a bit younger than a typical cruiser but a lay off has put me in a unique position to get out of here before winter strikes.
Might be a bit to ship it that far but still well below the price of a brand new unit... every penny helps.

Re: Monitor Wind Vane Wheel Steering
Paul,
Still at it! Had to install a new depth sounder today. Haul out, cut out, bang out, clean out.
Good news: I have a working depth sounder finally!
Anyway, would you please send me the serial number off of your vane. The number I gave to Monitor doesn't seem to match your boat or vintage...? I may have read it wrong.
Thanks,
Rob

Re: Monitor Wind Vane Wheel Steering
Paul,
I'm interested in this vane as well for my Tartan 34c. I'm in DC with the boat in Annapolis. Could I come take a look? Can easily get up to Rockville. My email is kennonjones at gmail dot com.
Thank you,
Kennon

Re: Monitor Wind Vane Wheel Steering
Thanks,
Still trying to move it? I've been searching high and low, just missed out on a Navik which was only $700 :/
Back in town from the Oregon Eclipse Festival and back at it on my J. Feel free to e-mail me if everyone else here is still sitting on a fence about it. c hardy mark @ gmail dot com

Re: Monitor Wind Vane Wheel Steering
Hi Mark
It looks as if it's out the door tomorrow and going to a great home on the stern of a soon to be cruising boat.
Unlikely but if it falls through I'll circle back.
Thanks
Paul
