42' anchor? A bit overkill for most pleasure boats.

Re: Lagoon 42 TPI

I have been seeing your boat for sale for a long time now in town.
I have been looking for a cat. However you never lower your price.
I can get a 2002-2005 vintage lagoon for the same money you are asking for your boat. So what gives, why is the price so high? Do you have a loan on it or something, or are you just not interested in selling it?

Also the details are always sparse. No engine details, no rigging details, no maintenance records, always the same photos. No talk of AC or generator.

Re: Lagoon 42 TPI

This boat is currently for sale. The price has been reduced by over $40,000 since we first advertised it. We obviously were unrealistic with the price when we started trying to sell. I think we have an appropriate asking price now. If you are seriously interested, I'll be happy to send you specifics and more pictures. Just shoot me an email. And you can see the details at EXIT STRATEGY FOR SALE - EXIT STRATEGY.

We are also available to show the boat with just a day's notice.

As for other questions: The boat is in good condition. Standing rigging was completely replaced by Mack Sails in 2013. Sails are in good shape. Motors were replaced in 2005 and have been well maintained. They work just fine. There are solar panels and water catchment. No generator or water maker. We lived at anchor for months at a time. I have a 4 page list of specs and equipment, including the age of the replacements which I am happy to share when you email me.

We have loved this boat and had trouble getting ready to let her go. We are now ready to find her a new owner.

Re: Lagoon 42 TPI

Great price if she surveys well, newer engines , rigging, etc!!! I would put her on sailboat listings .com, catamaran site, and craigslist in The keys, Miami, Tampa, and the USVI. She should sell fast. As to sailnows post,
I searched and found Zero newer than 2000 lagoon 42's anywhere near that price range

Re: Lagoon 42 TPI

The boat is listed under Catamaran site. Also note they quit making the TPI 42 in 1995.

If she surveys well this boat would make my short list (if I was in the market). Maybe the owner can chime in regarding hull condition and such.

Re: Lagoon 42 TPI

The hull is fine. No sign of blisters - ever. We hauled almost every year and touched up bottom paint, put on new zincs, checked out dripless packings, serviced engines, etc....

All the mechanicals on this boat are good. She is clean. Things work. We may hop on board and go sailing again if nobody buys her by the end of the year.

I respectfully decline your offer.

If you are in St. Augustine at the yard... Post some current photos for prospective buyers... Thanks

Re: Lagoon 42 TPI

Quick question for DorisT, I saw your listing on Catamaransite and in the pictures the side of your boat has a "39" or maybe a "3900" on it. The TPI Lagoons were 37 or 42, and the lettering looks a lot like Moorings/Leopard numbering. Is this just a way for you guys to save a few bucks on dockage and haulout? Or something else?
