Handheld IR Temperature Reader

La Crosse Technology IR-101 Infrared Thermometer Handheld One Button Use - Model IR101 - $25.00 (plus postage)

There was a recent thread on C.F. about exhaust raw water flow. One of the considerations of low raw water flow due to water injection nozzle clogging or water pump">raw water pump vanes breaking off is the rise in temperature of the gases getting into the rubber exhaust hose and "cooking" the rubber. It is very difficult to determine how hot the exhaust hose is getting unless you have this type of tool. With the engine running at cruise speed you can point this IR gauge at the hose and get a real reading of exactly what the temperature is and how close it is getting to the maximum allowed 200°F.

Same thing with the Heat Exchanger reservoir, Exhaust manifold, and even the transmission (including transmission oil cooler) temperatures. There are many times when this tool will definitely take the "guess work" out of diagnosing an engine problem.

Easy contact-free temperature measurement for difficult to reach or inaccessible locations, on and inside buildings (heating and cooling loss), on hot components (engines and machinery), and for heating and sanitation applications (e.g. heat loss).
* Continual measurements of temperature are possible by holding button down
* Continuous capture of minimum and maximum values for quick evaluation of hottest and coldest points with simultaneous display of the current temperature
* Large backlit LCD display
* Easy contact-free temperature measurement for inaccessible locations
* Cyclic measurements allow fast, accurate temperature readings in Fahrenheit or Celsius
* Displays measured temperature with maximum and minimum records
* Data hold function saves late st value in display
* Neck band
* Dimensions: 0.8 x 2.2 x 4 inches ; 3.2 ounces
