Evinrude 7.5 outboard motor

This motor has been painted a drab brown but it starts easy and runs smooth. Price doesn't include tank; I use gravity fed to run it. Special double hose fixture $100 extra. No pump means one less thing to break! Great motor for a sled type boat or other application; perfect to learn about motors from. This motor is like 60 y.o. and it runs like a champ. Everything in it is metal. $250 , Chicago area.

Re: Evinrude 7.5 outboard motor

Is this motor still available? Can it be used in the ocean?

Re: Evinrude 7.5 outboard motor

I would love to sell you this motor but I don’t think it’s what you really need and it’s probably not going to be economical to ship it anyways. Still...

I have a Catalina Capri 25, with a Suzuki DT6 outboard on an adjustable bracket. I have had the boat for six years, and getting to my current motor was an evolution. Along the way I learned how to partially disassemble and reassemble and repair and maintain outboards, and I especially like the 2 stroke OMC motors between 5 and 9.9 hp. Reliability award. What else matters, again? I’m also pumped for Honda 7.5-10 hp 4 strokes, and have some experience there. Really cool engineering, decades ahead until 2003. Still, a complex system, with many failure points.

I’d be happy to discuss your propulsion issues, and maybe lend some advice.

Reading your profile it seems likely you have a big boat that is currently unpowered with a non-working or non-present inboard, probably diesel.

From what I’ve seen, your best bet is going to be a Yamaha 9.9 hi thrust motor mounted on an adjustable mount on the stern. A Honda or other 4 stroke might do the job, as well as a 10hp 2 stroke, but not with as much authority.

I’d be happy to follow up with you.
