Re: ACR AIS Transponder

Hello,

Can this unit work in the receive only mode if I choose to do so?

Also - anything else that comes with the unit (ie. cables, ais antenna, etc)

Thanks
Ron

Re: ACR AIS Transponder

Yeah I tried on mine because we bought the boat from a Canadian family but wasn't able to (Canadian MMSI won't transfer to US). Supposedly you can connect to a PC with the Link2AIS software and ACR can remote in and change it. However, I never had any luck getting the computer to connect. I wound up buying a new one (for NMEA2000, same as the OP).

A fellow sailor said it could have been my USB to serial adapter that was the problem.

Did you try to use a computer with something less than windows 7 - we could not connect with ours and had to get a computer with vista to talk with it
