The Waterway
Radio and
Cruising Club (WRCC) will be celebrating its 50th anniversary at the annual picnic to be held at Wickham Park near Melbourne,
Florida, on Sunday, November 17, 2013. This year's picnic will be a grand affair with catered
food and beverages as well as a
boating and ham
radio gear flea market. Whether you are a WRCC
member or not, if you are interested in
boating or HF/SSB radio you are invited to attend. Details are available on the WRCC web site
www.waterwayradio.net. The deadline for making a reservation is November 9th.
The WRCC is an informal, non-profit association of over six hundred individuals who share the dual interests of amateur radio and recreational boating. The WRCC sponsors and operates the Waterway Net, a daily amateur radio net, whose main purpose is to aid fellow amateurs in small boats with
communications,
weather information and other services related to
safety and general boating enjoyment. Our general coverage area is primarily along the U.S. and Canadian East coasts, the
Bahamas, the
Gulf of Mexico, and the NE and NW
Caribbean. The Net operates on 7268 kHz LSB each morning beginning at 0745 Eastern Time, and runs for about an hour.
The WRCC picnic is always scheduled to complement the Seven Seas Cruising Association annual meeting and Gam in Melbourne. The WRCC hosts a booth at that Gam for those interested in finding out more about the Club and meeting some of its members. The WRCC web site mentioned above also contains information about the Club as well as a wealth of general information related to amateur radio and boating.
Look forward to seeing you there.
