I have been following with great interest the sale of Morgan Freeman's boat, a Shannon 43, on Yachtworld. While a nice boat for sure, his broker is asking for minimum 500K bids to even be considered. This is about twice what comparable Shannon 43's are going for currently. Now, I like Morgan as much as the next guy, but I just don't see myself paying a quarter million dollar extra just to have his boat.

never really liked the sheer of the Shannon lines, too flat. From certain views, they appear slab sided. For the price one would expect better lines, like Hinckley's or Oyster's yards produce. A boat builder can radically alter sweet lines the designer put down to make a rather dull boat.

Haha. Just remembered I was up in Connecticut and someone pointed to the boat in the background and said this guy owned it. Apparently he is quite serious about sailing.
