Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Re: Who says dolphins have no sense of humour..

Having dived with dolphins I can tell you with certainty those fish are like a mean spirited, bullying, over-sexed teenagers who like taking advantage of any other life form.

Why I think this you ask? First my girlfriend was going to do this short dive without a wetsuit, they told her absolutely not, they implied she might get taken advantage of. So during this dive with semi-wild dolphins I was told they might lightly grab you to get a reaction. I was told to not react and they will stop. Well this fish grabbed me twice, no reaction. Picking only on me and not the others in the group. Then fish-face grabbed me from behind and scared the crap out of me. After that I was their bitch. Charging at me at full speed to make me flinch. Then while swimming to another location fishy side-swiped me and spun me around. Knocked off my mask and regulator. Tortured me to the end.

BTW, I know they are mammals...barely.

It sure looks to me like the Dolphin didn’t see the surfer. However like any other intelligent animals, I’m sure there are good ones, and bad ones behavior wise.
Horses are not really that intelligent, but I have owned some really mischievous ones.

I guess the locals aren't a fan of sharing their waves

The horse my wife had knew I didn't know what I was doing.
She (the horse) liked to rub me off on a fence, or take me under a tree branch at the last second.

Re: Who says dolphins have no sense of humour..

I have heard from a professional fisherman about a school of Risso dolphins that roam the northeast Atlantic and follows trawlers. At least one of the critters has learned, "If I grab this rope, and pull, the net opens and dumps a ton of fish in my face."

Not sure that counts as a sense of humor, but it's up there. I am pretty sure the guys on the boat are not amused...

Re: Who says dolphins have no sense of humour..

The day is coming when the dolphins will say “So long and thanks for all the fish.” When that happens, see if you can hitch a ride with them.

Re: Who says dolphins have no sense of humour..

When I was in Elat for a while, UK midwives were trying to get permission to use the Dolphin diving pool for water birthing.

The aquarium staff refused because of dangers, but when scuba diving with expectant mothers, the Dolphins were very focused on them

The Dolphins Sonar is presumably good enough to see blood flow and internal structures, If so then I’m sure they could easily see the fetus.
