Not non stop. But I am currently considering a single handed passage from New Zealand to England via the Horn. If I can find the finance....

Re: Who here would Solo Around the World non stop on their own Boat?

I would on mine, but won't be. Just because I would, didn't mean it'd be my brightest moment in thinking. I do intend to go around someday, but in a larger, more comfortable boat in a few years.

matt,

Thinking about taking your Farr? If so, planning any mods first? If so, what?

Yes Ann, can't afford anything better! It's still a while away, if it works out. Island Time needs some work 1st, and the cruising kitty needs rebuilding after the last voyage. The boat is mostly OK, but I'd need to go over her with a rollover in mind. Needs better latches on floor boards, under bunk lockers, better seals for dorades etc - that type of thing. Probably a couple of years out yet, and a vague plan at this stage. Still, the last major voyage was 6 years between conception and departure!

It would be a fantastic trip. Good luck getting it all together sometime.

I would definitely! Part of my plan is to circumnavigate, (stopping along the way to enjoy new lands, cultures and people) of course it would be better to share it, however, that would not stop me from going.

Several people are missing the point of the thread:

NON-STOP

That's a huge difference from a typical circumnavigation.

I see no NON-STOP requirement to participate in this thread - or perhaps I'm just too literal.

I would want to take my time and enjoy the cultures, sights and people. Alone? Sure. With someone has many benefits and would probably be more enjoyable... if I were careful enough in selecting my cruising partner. I'd hate to arrive in port light one crew member...

No multis? WHY?

Free everything? PLS donate? WHY?

No time limit, no awards, no medals? Still a RACE? WHY?

I can see many great SAR efforts that will feed the forum for a long time ;-)

Certainly, you are allowed to participate but it's in the title of the thread and is a totaly different subject from a cruise with stops planned.

Yes yes yes Captain. There are exactly 40 gaszillion circnav threads for you and Patrick and others to catch up with. This discussion is for the nutso non-stoppers not reasonable gobs like us. Get with the program.

Google Custom Search is your best friend. In the alternative, start yer own thread about arriving in port without a crew member. Not a dead body ... that has been done doncha know.

Come on readers, all 7.5+ billion of us wanta sail around the globe in perfect weather nailing all the island women or boys if you wish, pleasantly ****-faced nightly, toking on $80 a stick fine cigars, eating whenever ... like a cruise ship! With a pool and Issac tending bar, and hoping for twenty minutes with that hot cruise director. A beer says that rtw trip would be cheaper than outfitting yer own boat. Save yer hundred k and broken heart.

Excuse my newbie-errors... I mistakenly read and responded to the original POST, instead of the title (which is apparently how this really works).

No, I would want to see the world along the way. Going non-stop is a stunt which is only good for bragging about yourself to others....if that's what you are in to. It does not prove anything either since so many have done it before you.

Ha! Sorry Blue Crab... my previous reply was incomplete with errors... (and WHY can't I edit my post???) ....such a rookie.

I'll take the broken heart... a Cruise ship??? I'd rather paddle! Maybe I'll just save myself the jail time and start a new thread: rtw flotilla
