Now onto the bizznezz... I hate to say it... But Cali being the SUP mecca, I would post this on SA... Can you believe they have SUP yoga classes... ? Seems as though you got some solid advice from Tingum, but your requirements are still for an inflatable...

Other thought.... This is so dang popular, there's got to be tons of SUP forums???

I found a couple in Oz (one in the UK had lots of threads, but zero replies LOL), but I'm a little scared of posting as a newbie knowing the reception some newcomers, particularly females, receive on some forums .

Hi SWL, my wife has a Boga Yoga, which I have to admit is awesomely fun. It is very stable since it is designed for yoga, but also tracks well, too. The whole family loves it. BUT, it is rigid, not inflatable. Our thought is that it doubles as a weatherboard on one side, but admittedly it does add to the windage of the boat! We looked at inflatables and found a few that looked quality, but my wife loves yoga so the one we got seemed perfect. None of the inflatables we saw had a flat enough deck for yoga. Anyway, if you change your mind regarding inflatables let me know and I'll ask her to get online to give some more details.

Consider the Starboard Transporter SUP. It's a 2 piece rigid SUP. This is on my radar for bringing a SUP for future cruising. I have not tried this, but looks like a good transportation solution vs inflatable.

Thanks Frank. I doubt I will use mine for yoga (although I came across some beautiful images after Happy mentioned this). Good stability probably is a minus not a plus, I enjoyed the workout trying to keep balanced in choppy conditioned when I tried it out.

I am not wedded to the idea of an inflatable if there are a lot of drawbacks with them. Storage down below may be an option on long passages. Trying to get as much info as possible at the moment to make the right choice.

We have 2. One stays hard for weeks the other looses some air in about a week. There is no distortion or any other problems. Our were not very expensive $5-600 ea. I should add, that you will probably need an electric air pump. I found it impossible to get them to max psi by hand.

SWL, we have two SUPs that are the Bali by Solstice. Under $500 USD each. About 40 lbs each. They stay inflated all the time in racks on the stanchions without covers. Add a little air once in a while to keep them tight. For passages or rough weather we deflate and stow below. They roll up unto bags about 12" diameter by 24". Not hard to inflate (and deflate) with a hand pump but much easier with 12v pump. Deflate with the pump makes it store much smaller. We bought these about a year ago, selected them because they were cheap and we didn't know if we would actually use them. We do. Lots. Our daughter-in-law has a Naish which is a much nice, and more expensive, board. It also inflates, deflates and stores easily with the 12v pump.

I've rented a rigid SUP for a week. It was fun, but I don't think I would buy one. After a week, I was over it. I much prefer a kayak. For me, the kayak has more uses.

If you buy a good SUP you can always sell it if you tire of it. In good shape you might get 50% back.

I can only reply with hearsay.

A powerboater on my dock has 2 inflatable speed bumps SUPs. He left them inflated all summer. He likes them alot, says they're similar to a rigid one if the're inflated well. They didn't seem to degrade over the summer.

I'm conflicted, I'd like to try it, but the 100 or so SUPs floating around the main channel in the marina are really annoying when I'm trying to get out of my slip.. SoCal is definitely SUP central.

The longest we had them blown up was a month. No loss of air or distortion. We roll them and store them under the dinghy on the foredeck when on passage.
