Zoom in on the last spot, go to Satallite view, then to street view and hunt him down. You'll find him in the bar.

home at last!

Well done, Boatie.

And if those guys keep yammering at you about how many days it took, you might remind them *some way or other* that you fixed everything that needed it, and arrived safe and sound. Every landing you walk away from is a good one.

Cheers, and enjoy the party!

Ann

Whilst I joke about the time, it's done in appreciation of his perseverance. Besides, if the journey went as planned this thread would have been long forgotten by now, but instead it's been entertaining us for months. Sitting in the marina with no mast the last 3 weeks, I've needed some entertainment

Hi Folks..
Thanks for the moral support and amusement..
Its been a trying but rewarding experience on the whole..
Got to meet some awesome folks along the way whom I'd have missed had had it been trouble free..
From the guys in Brigada Financa's in Sardinha whom I shared the marina with who took me under their wing.. the marina staff likewise were brilliant.. and the family who run Monroe's Restaurant/Bar.. addictive place..
My rescuer who came out and towed me in for the fun of it in his powerboat when the steering failed...
I was kinda sad to leave.
Palma added to my 'Swing that Lantern' list of tales to relate and play with about my wheel falling off during 'rush hour'...
More great folks..
Almerimar.. some more really nice folks who are headed for Greece at different speeds.. and a couple or 3 who are finishing refits and undecided..
Frank of Nauticmobile who did my new gearbox and coupler who not only did a great job but is also a really nice guy..
Clean, fast and efficient on the job and a good laugh off duty..
Cascais... the folks at the Volvo shop who put up with me.. and found me a bodge-able seal for the water pump">raw water pump..
Amazing what one can do with 3 rubber ring washers, a copper washer, an undersize seal and some Sika-flex and loadsa Vasaline in an old Jabsco pump..
19hrs of non-stop motor sailing to Fig da Foz and not a drip..

Wonder if I can 'Patent' it...
And.. another bonus..
Less to do on the 'Things to Fix' list...

As great as the travellers tales are, I reckon you must also be happy to be home!

Have a rest and enjoy the new home

Re: spot the boatman!

Im not sure if the Americans know the extent, depth, twists and turns of the British Psyche when it comes to humour. Nothing is off limits and the bleaker the situation, the darker the comments. We were very restrained here

I said to Phil that no matter what the issues he faced, he was still living the life he wants and the ups and downs and trials were part of it. Its another set of stories to add to the books. Might as well be running out of money and beer in Malta, Sardinia, Spain and Portugal as in your semi in Bradford.

Its rare that everything goes well on a trip. In this case an untried vessel with a history of repairs that were either done badly or not done at all. Im sure we all have had variants of that

Phil has a good feel of the boat now, and knows what needs to be done so he can concentrate on getting it to where he wants it. When its time to sell, it will be in a good condition unlike when it was acquired.

I like watching the progress of trips, and hearing the stories. Its interesting.
