He does seem to have westerlies on the nose all the way today and tomorrow.

For a laugh I put in what I guess is his route into the Predictwind weather routing app. The polars are all wrong for him, but anyway, this is what I got back.
I don't really understand the 4 different routes other than I think CMC is some Canadian weather service, GFS is the forecast from NOAA. PWG & PWC I think are Predictwind's routes based on GFS & CMC forecasts but I don't understand why I get 4 choices. I'm stuck in the marina with no mast and only plan day sails, so the summer is when I try to learn how the software works.

The forecast I'm getting indicates that he should be reaching now and he'll be running by early tomorrow morning

spot the boatman!
Follow the green line...have a great trip Phil. That last tack might be a tad optimistic unless there's a 45 degree wind change or the polar is for a Volvo 60. I'm guessing a beat up the coast into northerlies this time if year, or a trip to azores for repairs

Re: spot the boatman!
My predictwind routing was very optimistic
According to the GFS (Green route) at 22:00 on the 25th Boaty should have been south west of Faro (Portugal). Right now he's probably off Cadiz
Admittedly it doesn't take into consideration Boatys need to sleep and therefore reefing and slowing the him down.

No bloody wonder he didn't stop in Gib. No self respecting sailor would be calling into a port with Fosters waiting for him.

Re: spot the boatman!
Ugh, don't mention beer and Gibraltar in the same sentence. I made a major beer shopping mistake there
