Another thing you guys should make sure off is you have winch handles that lock in when in place.. they jump out to easily in heavy seas and winches crack ribs when one nipple kisses them..
So.. now its a wander to the Ferrateria to try for another nut for the helm.. if this one also does not work I'll super glue the best make do onto it and see what happens.. My ancient Auto helm 3000 is tied on with string so one could say it'll be a technilogical improvement..
if you cant find a nut with the correct thread, rather than risking damaging the thread on the spindle get some JB weld epoxy or equivalent and make a nut.

use a bit of Vaseline on the threads, cut a bit of 1"1/4 plastic tube about 3/4 long with the ends nice and square as your outer mold, mix your epoxy and apply it to the threads slide the tube over, smooth off or pack in excess epoxy so ends are square with the tube then let it set.

once set undo with a wrench, sand ends square, then you can either leave it as is or cut a hex into the sides with a hack saw for tightening.

Re: spot the boatman!

Thats one way to look at it. You can also look at it as:

You have one less hull to worry about$$$$$$.

Re: spot the boatman!

Boaty made it around the island and now boaty is headed NW, away from general direction of wherehewannago. Winds light from the WSW. Boaty doesnt like going into the wind me thinks and with waves me thinks. Long tack but also closer to coast. Boaty is playing mind games again.

Re: spot the boatman!

Spent 20 minutes checking the weather, and noted the weird winds.
Boatie updated his position and I see he tacked backwards to take advantage of the change in direction.

Headed south west again.

Re: spot the boatman!

Yehaw Weavis indeed ye report is good, seems the winds are from the W and will gradually circle around to the S then to the SE which should give him some good (although light). Somewheres tomorrow into Thirstyday as that stormy bit in the NE moves away.

That sneaky Boaty planned it this way me thinks. He's moving nicely.
