Re: spot the boatman!

I wanted them to drain the system.. then a boat in the marina started exploding spectacularly as it burnt to the waterline. When I got back was told just air in the system and I was good to go. Now its 7 days to strip the pump etc etc.. do they seriously think I'll trust them after saying I was good to go knowing I planned straight run to Spain of 600+ miles..

What, they exploded the boat to distract you so they wouldn't have to drain the system?

That's no light bite; that reeks of shark. Did they actually believe you would have a breakdown and go to a new port? Dumb-#@&('ers.

Well when I got back in Franco the contractor here said the lads reckoned it was the pump.. Bollox..
Then he said they'd do the pump for me but it would take 7 days to demount, strip, inspect and test then refit.. I went ape **** and called him out.. told him I may look stupid but the only reason they got the job was my hand was buggered and I don't work at my best left handed.. told him I wanted nothing to do with him or his assholes again then hit the marina office and informed them.. Franco and co are verboten on my boat as long as its here.
Anyway.. bones in hand felt pretty good today so stripped the ram right down.. cleaned it and reassembled it before lunch.. this afternoon I tackled the pump.. stripped it down, cleaned it out.. very interesting internals.. pic's tomorrow.. and found when Whitesails of Malta retapped the leaking drain plug for me they left all the iron filings inside.. wonderful tradesmen.. NOT..
So.. its all clean, reassembled and awaiting the oil inside 12 hours.. not the 7 days that Franco of Marina Capitana and the Spaghetti Cowboys of Cagliari Yachting Services claimed it would take.. reckon with the ram thrown it it would have been two weeks..
What a bunch of WANKERS...
The complete opposite of Nino Anastasi of Mazara do Velo, Sicily who removed the drive links for my water pump.. machined replacement parts and fitted inside 36 hrs.. a real gent and the cleanest working tradesman I've ever met.. 200euros all in.
If your in this area and need work done his number is
Italy/Sicily-3388265117
Marina Capitana itself is a great place.. friendly staff and a nice bar/restaurant/pizza place.. just a bit pricey for a working stiff

Re: spot the boatman!

Crap what a haloola of a story, there boaty floaty. Hope the marina keeps em away. Remind how you found these shellfish, anyway?

Here i am sitting on my arse since the cash cows ran away to the doldrum. I could have d**ked around with that ram under superv. Frustrating watching from afar n not bein able to help in some way.

Does this mean you are on the road again? Or is it on stilts till after season?
