Sailing books to help get through the winter
Any recommendations for good books with a sailing focus? Is your recommendation fiction or nonfiction?
Like many sailors in the north east, my boat is forlornly sitting on stands while winter winds blow. I could use a fix!

 This is just a few that I have on my kindle. But I guess it depends on what you like. I like the survival stuff, big seas and adventure type stuff. The Riggers Apprentice and books about knots is my typical bathroom reading material

Not a fan of Moitessier but he definitely has a following.
I found another fellow I dislike a bit, William F. Buckley, Jr., as a wonderful story teller when talks about sailing across the Atlantic with his son and a few others. It's called Airborne and I can't recommend it enough.
For fiction I too like Conrad. He was some wordsmith.

If you can find a copy, "Princess" by Joe Richards is a great read. It is a love story between a man and a 24 ft wooden Friendship Sloop. He bought the boat in City Island, NY just before the start of WW2 and rebuilt it piece by piece then sailed down the ICW with great adventures large and small, to Florida before the draft caught up with him. After the war he came back and rebuilt her again and sailed back to NY. There was a sequel so if you can find the book with both parts, so much the better.

'The Custom of the Sea' by Neil Hanson.
You can have my copy, I've tried reading it a few times during the long night watches but never been able to really get into it..... probably best to describe it as a survival guide....

Even if the nautical aspects of this book doesn't "float your boat", the legal implications were very very significant.
