Re: Pictures of secluded beaches
Gorgeous pics, it's giving me motivation to work through these winters and fill the cruising kitty. Much appreciated and please keep them coming. It's nice to at least sail vicariously through you guys and gals for now:-)

Re: Pictures of secluded beaches
Avb3 and travellerw, nice to see some Alberta boys able to get away for winters, if you ever want to show a newb how to sail better, I'm in the wabamun Marina through the summer months.
Travellerw, where abouts are you in Alberta?

Edmonton... Actually Sherwood Park but close enough.. At least until February.. Then the plan is to move aboard.
I actually learned to sail (well kinda sail) out of Wabamun. I had an Edel 540 that we would drop in at the town launch every chance we could get. I was going to take a slip at the Marina, but just could never justify the cost for such a short season! Wabamun was a fun lake to sail, pretty challenging as the wind was always changing!

Pelagic, did YOU go to high school in St. Albert?
I lived there for 51 years until 3 years ago.

Re: Pictures of secluded beaches
This is the anchorage at Pede, on Mare Island in the Loyalty Group in New Caledonia. The beach doesn't show n the photo, but it is off to the left side. White to pinkish soft coral sand, some coral rubble at the HW mark, a little cave to hide from the sun when it gets too hot. Not so shabby... and this is winter!

Yes, very small. John Hrynew, the principal, lived 4 houses down from us. I think Petherbridge was the principal before him, and him and Hrynew were next door neighbors. We moved there in 1961. I ended up going to St. Albert High, but my sister went to Paul Kane.

Re: Pictures of secluded beaches
Not a beach, but there are beaches in the area ... anchored in a swimming pool ... Lighthouse Reef Atoll, Belize...

Yes I remember Principal Hrynew... He had a self absorbing habit of last day doing a critique on each matriculating student and predicting their future.
Told me I was very gifted but would always be a drifter.
Can't argue with that!
