You put the finger on the wound. I'm now 10 years married with my Brazilian wife and live already for over 5 years in Brazil but I still speak very lousy Portuguese. Why? because my wife is teacher English and from the day i met her, 12 years agoo, we at home speak English. Because the same reason her Dutch is still lousy. Sad.

Lol, my experience (before N) indicates there is a third language which requires no conversation but much practice. Might be why I did NOT suggest pillowtalk as a method of learning a language.

Re: Language learning offline while cruising.

Hi Locutus and boatman61! Hello everyone! Learning foreign languages may seem difficult but it is usually possible to learn to speak on a communicative level. The proof of this is that I write in this forum. I come from Poland and most of languages of Western, Southern and Northern Europe are foreign languages for me. Even those from Eastern Europe I would have to learn additionally, because they are a bit different than Polish. On the other hand Polish is one of the most difficult languages to learn as a foreign language, so I strongly cheer on those who make attempts. Relatively many people from abroad speak Polish well. You can find many websites to learn Polish and other languages in the Internet.
