Jacuzzi

So how about having a jacuzzi aboard?. Hubby and I both have back issues and just can't do without this modern therapeutic device.

Re: Jacuzzi

We've worked on a few and installed one. Takes a big boat but it's doable. The last one was a 46' CC460. We put it in the mid cabin in place of the berth and added a second water heater. It was a coastal motoryacht, not an offshore cruiser. The offshore cruisers we've done also needed about a 50gph watermaker to make it make sense and the genset needs to be run while it's being used. Most big boats have 'em, under 70 footers rarely do...

It was a joke. I was wondering how long it would take somebody to recognize me as the clothes washer/dishwasher poster

I actually saw it in operation, very clever you filled the wheel well and then turned on the pumps

No joke too

Re: Jacuzzi

I built a furo (ofuro) hot tub many years ago out of redwood planks with a copper sheet bottom. This was the design I had experienced while living with the Ocean People, a hippie commune in Volcano (the big island) while they were constructing a sixty foot trimaran. It is, unquestionably, the nicest tub I have ever been in. You sit cross-legged atop a teak grate (so as not to burn anything vital), reach over the side and add pencil sized twigs to the fire beneath, and feel IMMEDIATE heat. Then, just as you are about to call it quits, two burly Hawaiian locals place their hands on your shoulders and say "not just yet, bro". The first thought that hit me was, are they going to add the carrots and potatoes now? The locals (and Japanese afficionados of furo culture) have assured me that you get the most effect out of a few mionutes more at elevated heat. They had to pull me out, after that final steeping cycle, and I layed down on the wooden patio deck and watched the gorgeous tropical night sky whirl be fore my eyes. My muscles had turned into silly putty, and I was the most relaxed I've ever been. Sometimes I think about building a portable furo to take to shore for this exact purpose. Maybe using space-age materials.........

Re: Jacuzzi

There's a product that just fits the bill: yachtub Yachtub by Yacht Products International, Inc.
(I'm not techy so the url may not work - so if not just do a Google search). I've seen it at boat shows before and saw one in action in Roche Harbor during 4th of July. 4 guys were crammed in it and they had a disco ball hung over the yachtub suspended off their dinghy davit. They were the ****. Looked like good times. I could see me getting one and floating it in Desolation Sound in winter. That would be heavenly.....
Cheers,
Bill

One of the Wings dive charter sail catamarans in the Whitsundays in Australia has a Jacuzzi on the front deck.
