I Broke the Law Today!

Was it fun? Was it entertaining? Yes! .....and illegal. As I was walking down the floating dock today I noticed a 500 pound baked potato cruising slowly along the edge of the dock and eating the filamentous algae growing on the edge of the dock. Had this 500 pound baked potato been a manatee, then it would have been illegal for me to reach down and stroke and scratch it's back while walking by on my way to shore. With a couple of long hand rubs down his back, the big potato arched against my hand and I was compelled to add some vigorous scratching and rubbing. The potato took a moment's break from eating and I continued. I didn't stay to long, knowing that some official might mistake my potato for a manatee. You know it's forbidden to physically interact or disturb a manatee. I won't promote the thought of any illegal contact with a manatee, but I'll never forget that 500 pound baked potato!

You should have committed the ultimate offense and given him a good scrubbing with a deck brush.

Just don't do that at night after a couple of drinks--it could be a gator next time!

Re: I Broke the Law Today!

Very bloody funny. I can imagine the whole story being sung to the tune of "Motorcycle Song" by Arlo Guthrie.

"I stroked a baked potato"

Coops.

And then the baliff came in with 29 9x5 color photographs of me with the baked potato.

Re: I Broke the Law Today!

Very close there, it was 27 8x10 colour glossy photos with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was. Not that i am being pedantic, just showing off my recall.(I used to perform the song many years ago). Deck officer will be along soon, you watch, another Arlophile.

Coops.

Could have sworn that was "Alice's Restaurant"

Maybe I need another cup of coffee....

I should have looked it up before posting from memory. Any mistake on CF and you'll be taken to task immediately.

....to be used as evidence against us.

If you aroused that manatee, later tonight in an amorous state, he might follow your scent and climb into your berth.

Good for you! People pay all the attention to the manatee, and the poor potato gets neglected -- and they really do like to have their backs scratched. Never mind how I know.

Although there is a rare "long version" of the Motorcycle song that like the long version of Coming into Los Angeles is rarely heard.

Woa.... Duuuude...Flashback

I think it was: with a paragraph on the back of each one, describing the crime to be used as evidence against us. Then the judge walked in with his seeing eye dog................
