How are you securing SUPs to Garhauer racks?

We just received a couple sets of the Garhauer stanchion mount kayak racks which we are using for our SUPs. They sit in the racks nicely, but I need to come up with some way to secure the paddleboards so they don't fall out of the racks underway. What are you other guys using?

I keep two inflatable SUPs in Garhauer racks. I tied a piece of parachute cord to the eye on the top of each rack and then over the boards to the stanchions. Three years so far and no issues at anchor or in a slip including winds in excess of 45 knots. By the way, I chose inflatables so I could deflate them and store them below for passages or severe weather.

Thanks, that's what I did as a preliminary thing here in the marina but these are rigid boards. I think you probably have a friction advantage with the inflatables.

And I fully intended to buy inflatables. Even have a great place to store them in one hull where the holding tank used to be. Plenty of room there. Could fit four of them.

But...whilst perusing the variable offerings on the internet, looking at videos of big guys surfing and jumping up and down on inflatables we ran across a package deal on two second hand Naish Nalu's here already on the island. Saved us a bunch of money over importing two inflatables, so we bought em.

The Naish boards are really good. My son uses them. You might try some pool noodles on the racks to cushion the boards.

Good idea. Pool noodles we can get. They also serve as somewhat of a UV meter down here. A pool noodle left out in this sun will completely disappear in about two years.

I'm thinking of making a harness for each board, a loop of paracord that is slightly smaller than the maximum circumference around the board in the middle. Make two for each board. Slip one over each end, and then pull them toward the middle and secure them to a stanchion or toe rail. Kinda like spring lines. Keep it from slipping fore and aft.

We use pool noodles and bungee cord to attached to the life lines. On our way down to St Thomas from Hampton lots of stuff fell, but the paddle board never moved.
