Re: Having a TV

We have a KVH antenna and a flat screen tv and are hooked up to Dish Network. We use it a lot for watching movies, local news and football and basketball. While cruising, it works off shore and while underway. My wife watches the Today show every morning. We use the weather channel when out of internet range to get weather reports. We relocate the local channels to the area we are in. We also have a ROKU box for watching some tv shows that we miss and movies.

Re: Having a TV

It came with the boat. We watch dvds on it. It is not mounted in a location comfortable for viewing and we plan to move it eventually.

Re: Having a TV

We have a TV on board, but no aerial by choice. It is a power friendly way to watch films from an external hard drive on a decent sized screen.

Re: Having a TV

We have a flat screen TV, but do most of our watching on iPads or Laptops. What we watch depends where we are and what we have access to.

We do like to keep up to date on world news and used to try to get news via television. Now, we get it mainly from the Internet.

We mostly use iTunes downloads, Netflix, Apple TV for content (we like movies & certain scripted dramatic TV series). We download them and watch them on the occasions when we're in the mood for watching on-screen entertainment.

Yes, mounted over the chart table and includes a DVD player. Great for catching the weather forecast and keeps the crew happy when holed up waiting for a break in the weather.

Not a chance. I would rather have a gold fish bowl for entertainment value. But we are all different.
My apologies in advance if I get up and leave when you turn on the television for the "social" aspect.

Re: Having a TV

We've got TV on the boat but I don't like it, and it might get pulled by the time we go cruising.

I'd much rather talk and play games than watch TV.

21" "Smart TV" mounted on swinging arm at chart table. No antenna, used to stream movies or content from computer. Mostly at the dock almost never when out cruising.

Re: Having a TV

Growing working on commercial boats in the PNW, little time to watch TV because there weren't any around then. Although I remember being really impressed seeing one in the window of the Hudson's Bay store at Georgia and Granville streets in Vancouver around 1947. Reading was a pastime developed at an early age and still spend much of my spare time absorbed by a good novel.

Re: Having a TV

Have a 21" with "power antenna" that picks up some commercial channels in slip. It has a built in DVD player which is actually why it is still there. Nice to watch an occasional movie below decks while kicking back in the evening. Cannot stand rarely watch "TV".

Re: Having a TV

I have a tv/DVD player on board. The commodore wanted it. Whatever the commodore wants, the commodore gets.

Re: Having a TV

Satellite TV system with multiple televisions. We watch sports and occasional silly and stupid inane but funny programming. We also watch from bed at night and get the news while dressing in the morning. We admit freely to liking the conveniences of home while on the water.
