Get Married On A Boat
Get Married On A Boat
1) You can seriously limit your guest list.
2) You and your guests get to take in the beautiful skyline.
3) You have chosen a unique and special partner – shouldn’t you have a wedding that is just as unique?
4) Groomsmen look good in Sperry’s.
5) Unforgettable Guest Experiences.
6) Breathtaking Wedding Photos.
7) You can cross “Do the Titanic pose at the bow of a ship” off your bucket list.
8) You don’t have to worry about choosing a wedding theme, because yours is nautical.
9) Changing into your bathing suit and jumping into the water is totally an option.
10) You could make an epic exit on a WaveRunner.
Most cruise ship weddings occur in port, and marriage license requirements depend on that port. For example, if you marry on a cruise ship in a port in Florida, you’ll need to obtain a marriage license according to the state of Florida guidelines.
Getting married on your own boat is an exciting way to start your life together or in some cases continue the greatness that you already had for a long time.
We started out 20 years ago and decided to get married on our catamaran. It couldn’t have been any more perfect. We decided on having 50 guests, it was beautiful. My fiancée decorated the dock all the way to our boat and decorated the life lines of the boat with wide white ribbon and large bows on each stanchion. It was just perfect. She put two palm trees on each side of the boat to give a Caribbean setting. Everyone was on the dock looking up at us as the Justice of Peace did our ceremony. Then we had a wonderful luncheon with all our guests up at the restaurant at our marina.
You could certainly have something on the dock to keep cost down also. I have to tell you our wedding cost us $1,000. It doesn’t have to cost you a lot to look like a lot. People will never forget this kind of wedding, because it is so different.
If you want to get married on a boat then post your ideas here.

Re: Get Married On A Boat
We got married on our boat. Had a happy hour in the picnic shelter overlooking the marina. Pulled the boat up to the bulkhead next to the shelter. Got married on the bow with our guests on shore. Had the reception in the marina restaurant and the after party on a friends 70' motor cruiser. Great time had by all and costs us about $3000, most of which was the bill for the meal at the reception. Also rented a van and hired a driver to shuttle people from their hotels and back to make sure no one was drinking and driving.

Re: Get Married On A Boat
We got married on a two masted top sail schooner under sail. It was a cloudy day but right when we stood before the captain for the ceremony, the clouds parted and the sun streamed down on us (you can really see this on the video). Just when the captain finished, the clouds closed in again.
All the guests commented, "Wow, somebody up there wants these two to get married" 24 years ago. Time flies when you are having fun

Re: Get Married On A Boat
Obviously only certain countries countries allow their captains to perform official marriage ceremonies. The UK does not for example

Generally, Denmark does not - but you can get special permission. Lots of work though

Marriage is great when its good and hell when it not. When its over any your paying $3500 per month alimony it gets real ugly. Having said all that, getting married on a boat is a very nice thought and the pictures are great. Hope for a long happy marriage for those that did.

The US solves that by basically allowing anyone to do it. Makes it easy.

Correct, buy you can be ordained online for $25, which I believe is 50 state legal for performing marriages. I know from personal experience that it certainly is in Michigan and Texas.
