Man, what's with this place tonight. I can only compare it with trying to have a coversation with the entire forward pack of the Crusaders at midnight in the ChCh bars with Metallica playing at 120 decibels.
Unfortunately the only media that can sneak through our firewall down here is WMV so I'll have to wait until I get home to watch the clip.

No, they tend to be either good ole boys listening to C&W (honey, we got both kinds of music here. Country and Western) or the peace and love brigade with folk music and Bob Dylan sounding like he's got a pea stuck up his nose.

Hey Pete.

I'm not your "honey?"

I think you've been down there with the "guys," way too long?

Honey

Honey, we got both kinds of music here, country, and western.
Here's another. It's 60 miles to Chicago, we got an X police car and a full tank of gas, and we're wearing dark sunglasses.
Those are both quotes from a classic movie. Dan Ackroyd, John Belushi, Aretha Franklin and a few other musicians.
Name that movie.

Ahhh, some people have no culture, not knowing a classic line from a classic movie. Hey Alan "windows media video" or something like that. We can't get streaming, mpgs or much else. I wouldn't worry about emailing it, I'll be home in 3 days and will check it out then. Yahoo

I posted this on another forum, so some of you may have already seen this, but it relates. True story - while conducting the UN-ordered embargo of Haiti in the mid-90s, we hailed anything that came our way, including passing ships. Anyway, we hailed a German-registered freighter going from Brazil to Germany and talked to the master, who had a very thick German accent. Went through the list of questions - registration, tonnage, crew, etc., but when we got to asking about the cargo it went sort of like this:
Us: What are you carrying? What is your cargo?
Master: Jews.
Us (puzzled, we ask again): Say again.
Master: Jews. Concentrated Jews.
Us (very puzzled): Please describe your cargo.
Master (clearly exasperated): Ve are carrying jews; concentrated jews; you know apfel jews, oranj jews...

When I was in NZ early 80s a Dutch round the world sail boat pased by quite close, and asked us a question in English. None of the untravelled Kiwis could understand what they were saying. I said " he wants to know what channell the weather station is on "
My X could also understand them. In Canada we get used to hearing English spoken by folks from Ukriane, Russia, Poland, Yugoslavia, Italy, Germany, Holland and other places including the US. You become accustomed to bass ackwards and slaughtered language English.
