Dunedin, FL Sailing

I was wondering if anyone on here could make a recommendation. My family and I are taking a trip to Dunedin Fl in July. I checked brochures there last year for day sailing trips, but, they were way out of my price range. It would probably be myself and my 8yo son(who listens well) on the trip since the wife and girls don't seem to share my dream of sailing. I guess what I'm looking for is something relatively inexpensive. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Thank you...

We are members of the Clearwater Community Sailing Center which is a bit farther south of Dunedin (aobut 30 minute drive). The drive is worth it! You can rent all their boats/equipment by the hour/day or buy a membership (which may be worth it if you're there for a few days). They have a 17' sailboat, smaller single or double person boats, hobie cats, paddle boards, kayaks, etc. All in great condition. The people are nice. Totally awesome place!

This is where they're located:

Man that Windsong was exactly what I was looking for. The learn to sail part. The only problem was they won't pair you with someone to help drop the cost. I will give them a call when I get there. Leaving in 4 days, can't wait!

Re: Dunedin, FL Sailing

I thought I'd update this thread if anyone cared. I finally sailed! My son and I rented a Windrider 16, I took a 30 minute lesson, and off we went. From Honeymoon Island almost to Clearwater. It was great and we had a great time.
My wife and daughter's, who did not seem to share my passion for sailboats, waited on the bank as we pulled in. One look at me and Dave, they had to go. So, the next day I rented a Windrider 17 and the family had a blast. I even heard her say "I could get used to this".
They weren't the biggest boats and surely didn't turn any eyes but it's a good learning start. I have not been able to breathe like that in years.

Good deal. I'm a proud owner of a WindRider 16. The most fun I've had, without a motor. Looking for something bigger as others would join in the fun, had I the room and cargo capacity.
