although master & commander is an amalgamation of about 3 Pat O'brian stories, it's still a good movie.

i'm about 3/4 of the way through the books. as historical fiction, they are a great read!

I have Master & Commander on DVD.

I really liked that movie. And it depicts the life of sialing men aboard a Royal Navy ship of that time period.

The storm sequence is not CGI but is actual footage shot well down south onboard HMS Rose, a film crew were onboard for some atmosphere shots, and got "lucky" with the weather

Another pretty decent movie I would recommend to anyone. Is a movie titled "Cold Mountain". It's about the US Civil War of the 1860's.

Well put together movie, with an alot of known actors & actresses in this movie. It's another movie that I have on DVD.

Well Alan.

The movie does have alot of sexual content. So I believe you've read the right book?

The movie is rated "R" for violence and sexual content.

Lots of T & A in this movie!!

Well, I have now watched over 50 of the 65 episodes and have been very pleased with the old show. I have almost no memory of it from when I was a kid but there is no doubt that it had a influnce on me.

Well Gunner.

That's good to hear.

By the way. Where did you buy those DVD's from? And how much did you pay for them?

This link here.: http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/ Is where I bought "alot" of my movies and TV shows from.

As I was born quite a bit before then, I do remember Adventures in Paradise. Was it a 2 masted schooner or just a sloop? He hired out for various jobs but always seemed to have a lot of time available to get into some sort of adventure or trouble.

Captain Troy's sailboat is twin masted.

I think she's a sloop. Possibly cutter rigged. I'm still learning how to tell cutter rigged sailboats from the sloop rigged versions from eachother?

Thanks Gunner.

Yeah. A 85' foot white schooner. It still sails down in the area around Fiji, to this very day.

I believe they had it up for sale not too long ago. But, don't know exactly when it was being sold off. But there. Now everybody knows now!!

And she is still painted the color white. Just like she was when they made the TV show.
